AWS architecture, migration and cost reduction for growing teams

We find what you're overpaying for, fix the foundations that make releases slow and risky, and leave everything in code your team understands. Every engagement starts with a cost review aimed at cutting your bill in the first quarter.

Sound familiar?

Most growing companies' cloud setups were built quickly by whoever was there at the time. That was the right call then. These are the signs it needs attention now.

The bill grows faster than revenue

Nobody is sure what half the resources do, and it feels risky to switch anything off.

Releases depend on one person

Deployments are manual, slow and nerve-wracking, and they stop when that person is on leave.

Everyone is an administrator

One AWS account, shared logins and broad permissions. Fine at five people, a real risk at fifty.

Customers are asking questions

An enterprise prospect wants to know about backups, disaster recovery and access control, and the honest answer is "we're not sure".

What you get

A platform that costs less, ships faster and is documented well enough that you don't need us to run it.

  • A cost review that puts a dollar figure and an effort rating on every saving
  • Infrastructure as code (Terraform or AWS CDK) for everything we touch
  • A multi-account setup with single sign-on and least-privilege access
  • CI/CD pipelines so any engineer can release safely, many times a day
  • Monitoring, logging, alerting and budget alerts
  • Backups with a tested restore, and a written recovery plan
  • Runbooks and a walkthrough for your team

How it runs

Included in every build

Where the savings usually come from

Every account is different, but the same handful of fixes come up again and again.

Right-sizing and Graviton

Instances and databases sized for peak traffic that never comes, and workloads that run cheaper on AWS's ARM-based processors.

Commitments

Savings Plans and reserved capacity for the steady part of your usage, sized so you're never locked into more than you need.

Idle and forgotten resources

Test environments running overnight and at weekends, unattached storage volumes, old snapshots and orphaned load balancers.

Data transfer and networking

NAT gateway and cross-zone traffic that quietly becomes one of the largest lines on the bill.

Common questions

Do you only work with AWS?

AWS is where most of our clients run and where we have the deepest experience. If you're already on Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud, we work there too rather than pushing a migration you don't need.

Will a migration cause downtime?

We plan migrations to avoid it, usually by running old and new side by side and switching over in a quiet period with a tested way back. Where a short window is unavoidable, we agree it with you in advance.

How much could we save?

It depends on how your account has grown, which is why the review puts a dollar figure on each saving before you commit to anything.

We already have a DevOps engineer. Can you work with them?

Yes, and it's often the best setup. We add senior capacity for a project, pair with your engineer and leave them owning the result.

What access do you need?

Read-only access for the review. For build work, access through your own single sign-on with permissions limited to what the work requires, removed when we finish.
